I can't imagine how I used to do it

Today is All Saints’ Day and we thank Christianity for this holiday in Austria.

We are taking full advantage of this and are going here in Styria for a long weekend – it is about a 3 hour drive from Vienna.

In Leutschach we will veg out – drink and eat and go for walks in the mountains.

Unfortunately there is no snow – and indeed it is not really very cold – but we will take our Ugg boots and give them a test run for winter.

Mrs. Moneypenny is in Latvia visiting her mother so Jules is looking after the cats. I have lined him up for firewood on Tuesday week.

I drive him to the store and he loads the firewood onto a trolley – then into the car – then out of the car onto another trolley – then up the stairs – then into the elevator – then up some more stairs – then into the apartment – and stacks it in the living room against the wall.

And he has to do 20 trips to the garage.

It wears me out watching him do this – and I can’t imagine how I used to do it.

Although I remember I was in bad shape for days afterwards.

But he is young and fit and keen.

He is in medical school but it is only his third year so it is too soon for me to ask him about my problems.

The photo is of a particularly gorgeous girl duck in Stadtpark yesterday.

  1. When I was a kid I had a duck exactly like that as a pet. She slept in my room at night and I'd take for walks on a lead in the afternoons. What a great friend she was to me.

Have a great time. Maybe you'll be surprised by some snow after all!
