We have real coffee!

Well the Jura has arrived so we can have real coffee – but now the challenge is to find some beans that we like. The first batch I have bought is a complete failure.

I tried to make some changes to my AT & T cell phone and was caught with the old social security number thing again. I can’t make changes unless I can give them the last four digits of my social security number – except I don’t have one – but the cunning people at AT & T made up a number when I picked up my phone – but they didn’t tell me what it was.

I am now in the position where I can’t do anything without knowing a number that someone else made up.

We have our social security number appointment on 15 May – and I hope it won’t be too long after this when we have our magic numbers without which doors in the USA do not open.

We are going furniture shopping because (surprise) nothing we bought in Vienna will go with the new house.

Fortunately all furniture stores have oodles of sad bastard’s chairs and I can rest while pretending to test the comfort levels of each sofa.

  1. That sounds like an antisocial security number.

  2. Ah, you have 2 Trader Joe's in Indianapolis and that is where we get beans, they have a vast array of all sorts of beans. BD likes Trader Joe's organic 5 country espresso beans. I get the Dark French Roast. The cheeses are also good and they have a new cheese every month. As a rule I stay away from the fresh fruits, they are not the greatest.

  3. Congratulations on at least theoretically being able to brew a good cup of Java! ;-)

Yes, Trader Joe's the place to go, and not only for coffee beans. You'll find all the good stuff your SPAR did not carry! Plus Aloha shirts cheer and the most practicle and cheapest canvas shopping bags in the whole universe (to -> Trader Joe's, I am so envious!).

  6. I'll put a word in for ordering brands we like online. My preferred poison is Douwe Egberts. But to each his own.

  7. Welcome to America.

Have you tried 1234 for your code? It's probably something really simple. That was the initial code for all wireless modems that Spanish Telecom installs!

  8. esbboston: I feel like an illegal alien not having one of those numbers.

fmcgmccllc: I shall visit Trader Joe's tomorrow.

Merisi: I can't wait to get there!

Simon: For us it has to be the real thing.

feuillet: yes I am considering that. There are a couple of online suppliers.

    nzm: Yes I tried 1234 and 0000

  9. Whoops-a-daisy, my spelling's going down the drain: I meant to write practical (at 9:26 PM).
