So
I have spent the last hour sewing.
Cate
is going to Saudi Arabia on Sunday and has to wear her Abaya. This is not her
favorite gear but it is the only way they will let her into the country being –
as they are – terrified of female flesh.
But
the last time she wore it she was in such a hurry to get out of it that she
tore off three buttons. She designated me to sew these back on and – as the
buttons were black - the Abaya is black and the cotton is black – it was harder
than it should have been.
Gwenyth
is packing to go home. This is also more difficult than is supposed to be
because she went with Cate to Högl in Vienna and bought 13 pairs of shoes.
The
only time she buys shoes is when she comes to Vienna and while it seemed like a
good idea at the time – and the sales assistant certainly thought so – getting 13
pairs of shoes into her bags is proving to be quite a task.
Fortunately
she has an extra bag because she always brings us lots of essentials such as
Bushells tea, Sao biscuits, Vegemite and those other staples of life without
which we have to live in Vienna. But even so……..13 pairs of shoes is a lot of
shoes.
We
shall see.
I am curious when does she have to put it on, the airplane or before she gets on the plane? Does she have to wear the face thing? How much do those darn things cost and are they wash and wear or do they require ironing?
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at Bobby's (Schleifmühlgasse 8, 1040) for Vegemite and other favorites? I'm almost certain I saw it there on an exploration shortly after our arrival.
ReplyDeletefmcgmccllc: She does not have to put it on until she gets to the hotel. The driver who meets her always brings one with him for her. She does not have to do the face thing but she has to wear the scarf over her hair. The plain ones are not expensive and they are wash and wear. I do not have to iron it!
ReplyDeleteVictoriaK: Yes Bobby's does have vegemite. He also has porridge which we eat for breakfast in winter.
she has a lot of soul...ahahahahahah!
ReplyDelete! The only time she buys shoes is when she comes to Vienna" - that's what they all say! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf only she had 13 pair of feet! Perhaps she was a centipede in a former life. Can't imagine owning that many shoes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should be sewing on black velcro instead of buttons? Just as hard to see though. Good luck with it.
Simon; You are such a heel
ReplyDeleteMerisi: No really it's true
Sandy: Now velcro - there is an idea
