Today I learned that guns don’t kill people – people kill people.
Lieutenant Donald was explaining that sure there were a lot of gun
related deaths in Indianapolis – but that we compared quite favorably with Vladivostok.
Vladivostok?
(I think he used this city because he recently had some visitors from its
police force)
But in Vladivostok – as very few people have guns – they use knives, clubs
and vodka bottles.
I think he was making the point that we should not worry about people
having guns in Indianapolis because – if
they did not have guns – they would find other ways to kill us.
It was not a particularly comforting proposition – but on a brighter note
he told us that we were all eligible to buy guns provided we did not have
criminal records.
Unlike drivers licenses – no qualifications or tests are required.
I think I will take my chances and remain unarmed.
Woohoo, Vladivostok, another place to sell arms to! ;-)
