Chapel in Brittany with bullet holes |
So I
started messing about with the comments section on the blog because I was
getting lots of spam. Suddenly and for no particular reason that I can see.
In the
process I turned off comments altogether – but now it is fixed – but I have to
confirm each comment before it is posted.
I really
don’t like doing this but I am sick of these sniveling chicken shit little toe
rags who infest the blogosphere.
May their
turds be pineapples.
Indiana
has just proposed – and the legislation has passed – a bill that allows people
to actively discriminate against gays and lesbians and those other ghastly people
who are not like ‘us’.
The
proposal was approved with a vote of 40-10. Oh surprise – the Republicans are
the 40 – and can do anything they damn well please.
The law
means that – because of a person’s
religious views – they can refuse to bake a cake for a gay couple. They can
refuse a gay couple a room – they can refuse them service at a state government
counter – they can ostracize them from any and all activities that they like.
There was
a proposal by the Democrats that anyone who used this privilege would have to
put up a sign saying something like ‘Gays not welcome here’ but I don’t think
this got up. The bigots who discriminate do not want to be identified.
This in
2015.
Actually
there is a time zone difference. In Indiana it is 1915.
However –
there is a new wrinkle. There has been a great hue and cry and the Indy Star
said today
“The Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) has sent a letter
to Gov. Mike Pence threatening to cancel
its 2017 convention in Indianapolis if he signs controversial legislation that
could allow business owners to refuse services to same-sex couples.
"Our perspective is that hate
and bigotry wrapped in religious freedom is still hate and bigotry," Todd
Adams, the associate general minister and vice president of the
Indianapolis-based denomination, told The Indianapolis Star.”
How
refreshing.
ReplyDeleteBut at least I can, again!
LOL!
DeleteThat is strange legislation for a modern society.
ReplyDeleteThe law would allow discrimination against anyone, not just gays, right? As long as your reason is 'religious'. Let's go back to not serving black people, either. Or non-believers. Or people who don't own guns.
ReplyDeleteRead minutes ago that "Indiana is battling the worst outbreak of HIV in history" (WP)
ReplyDeleteesb: It is a very conservative state.
ReplyDeleteNanU: Yes - that is one of the many problems.
