Home grown idiot

We have had some wonderful rain here over the weekend and this was greatly appreciated by all our new plants and shrubs.
I am a bit worried about what happens to them during our Australian trip as we are going to have to ask the Cat Minder to do the watering. Still – all she has to do is turn on the timers so it should not be too hard.
I have my new leaf blower and mulcher - and am now looking at a snow blower. I think I am going to need one of these as our garage backs onto a lane which is apparently not cleared by the County. I can’t imagine being able to clear it all with a snow shovel.
Meanwhile – back in the Midwest – we have our own local idiot who has joined with the Tea Party asshats in Washington to close down the government and – if we get really lucky – ensure that the USA defaults on its debt. This would be quite a show.
He is Marlin Stutzman – and he knows he wants something to reopen the government - but he can’t quite put his finger on it.
His statement a few days ago was “We’re not going to be disrespected - we have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”
This about average for Tea Party politics in the USA. Apparently they are on a mission from God.

No wonder the country is falling to pieces

Perky-Pet Panorama

My bird seed dispenser broke. It was glass - and the top just disintegrated when I unscrewed it from its hanger. This is very disappointing as I paid almost $12 for it. No wonder the country is falling to pieces.
So I have ordered from Amazon the Perky-Pet Panorama bird feeder. This is made from copper and looks much more sturdy. It has had some fabulous reviews from previous buyers. Of course it is a bit more expensive – at $15.19 – but I think it will be worth it.
A major advantage is that you can have up to 10 birds sitting on it simultaneously - and this will be most useful during peak feeding times.
In other news I can report that neither acupuncture nor my faux-massage worked to remediate my migraines. I was expecting nothing from the acupuncture so was not disappointed.
My massage guy specialized in zero balancing which is:
“a leading-edge body-mind therapy that uses skilled touch to balance the relationship between body energy and structure to amplify wellness.”
Yeh right.
I had five sessions of this and my balance is now close to zero – but I still have migraines.
So now I am seeing a chiropractor and having deep tissue massage. At this early stage it seems to be doing some good.
All my plants are still alive.

He is slightly deranged

I have discovered MSNBC. This is the Liberal equivalent of Fox – so they have endless sessions of conservative-bashing. I spent last night switching between Fox and MSNBC - and laughed out loud on more than one occasion.
My life is so much better since I stopped fretting about politics – both in Australian and America – and accepted it as entertainment.
I think Walter White should be President.
When I was at the vet’s surgery the other day she said that Sissi should have her teeth cleaned – and that she would send me a quote.
This arrived today. It is 2 pages – 26 line items - and the total cost is $1,079.26. Holy Toledo! I will have to step up my stealing from the housekeeping money if Sissi is to have clean teeth. Perhaps for her birthday in April.
Yesterday I had the medical examination for my US residency application. The doctor was very nice and only poked and prodded me a very modest amount. She felt my ankles – and these are apparently OK.
They took lots of blood and then I had to go to the Minute Clinic at the pharmacy to have shots for tetanus and many  other things - of which I am not certain.
A new restaurant has opened just around the corner from us – opposite the Talbott Street GLBT club. We are going to test it on Friday night and may pop into the club later to meet some of our local gays. I met one of our next door ones – Brian – last week. He is slightly deranged - but otherwise appears to be very nice.
