Big Snow

Spot the cats

We have had some big snow in Vienna and it is still coming down.  I had to drive for about 20 Km today to visit our skin doctor and it was a very harrowing experience.

After visiting the doctor I got bogged in the snow trying to turn Billy around in a one way street and had visions of having to call a tow truck to extricate him.

However – I scraped the snow and ice from around his tires and - after a tense struggle - managed to  get him back on the road. Fortunately there was not much traffic on the roads so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been – but was not a happy driving experience.

Cate has revealed that she is going to Washington and Indianapolis and – as she is going for two weeks – wants me to go with her.

This is fine as I can stay with Cate’s brother in Washington for a few days and then mooch around the city while she is working. I am sure I will find some exciting things to do in Indianapolis – I probably should find where the ducks are.

The snow should stop tonite so tomorrow I will be able to visit Stadtpark - which will look wonderful with a deep blanket of snow.

Oh dear - poor Billy

Today I was supposed to have lunch with Merisi but I had  a very bad night and was still awake at 3:00 AM so was feeling well below average this morning.

We have postponed our date until tomorrow when we will probably go and photograph cemeteries.  I think cemeteries in the snow are very special places. But that is just me.

So when I finally surfaced I went shopping, cycled down to Alt Wien to buy some of our favorite coffee – and smashed Billy into the side of the garage when I had to deliver something to Rozalin.

The turntable was not working and there were three other cars on the same level – and this makes the task of getting out very difficult – and I demonstrated clearly that it was beyond me on this occasion.

So I well and truly scrunched the side – fortunately not on another car. This means more work for Rozalin as she has to fill out lots of forms.

I would do this except that they are entirely incomprehensible and use very long German words which are still beyond me.

I am not planning on leaving my job

Cate is in Dubai this week so is missing all the snow. We had decent falls again last night which is bad news for Austrians – who are sick to death of the damn stuff – but bliss for me.

I just can’t wait to get over to Stadtpark to take photos.

Cate has been muttering about going away at the end of next week too – I am not sure where yet – but she is thinking about taking me along so I have washed and polished my passport ready to go – wherever it is.

I am never stuck for something to do while Cate is away as she always leaves me a few chores – like washing and ironing and sewing. In my spare time I just loaf about and read and watch golf and cricket on TV.

And no you cannot have my job – I am not planning on leaving it any time soon.
